Our collaborative approach to emergency management brings together campus safety, fire safety, and environmental health and safety teams to ensure the campus is a safe place to live and learn.
Our Campus Safety Department provides emergency and non-emergency response services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and work in close partnership with area law enforcement and emergency response agencies.聽In addition to being NYS-licensed security guards, our officers are trained and certified in numerous safety-related areas including basic first aid, emergency medical care, and crisis intervention.
Safety relies on community cooperation, and you鈥檒l often see our safety team out and about campus providing crime prevention and fire safety education programs. We also support safety with:

Employees and local community partners of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) are available to respond to emergencies at all hours throughout the year. In the event of an emergency, the EOC will provide safety guidance and timely communications until resolved. The EOC and many other members of the campus community meet regularly to receive crisis training and plan for various emergencies.
In the event of an emergency or crisis, campus alerts and communications will be broadcast via our text alert system, campus email, the website, and social media channels.
All members of the Colgate community are encouraged to sign up for Colgate Alerts. Once you're registered and have provided your contact information the university will be able to communicate with you via text, email and phone calls regarding any emergencies or weather-related cancellations.
